A bag for Sarah

A big, big thank you to Sarah from Blooming Felt who commissioned a custom Saddle bag and chose this gorgeous duo of fabrics. This is the largest polka dot I think I've ever seen!! It took me a while to find a spot big enough (Sarah was very patient with me) but we got there in the end. I was so pleased that Sarah suggested this huge red button for the front of the bag, thats what custom orders are all about. Making something personal to the customer.

Sarah was very pleased with her new bag....

"Thank you SO much. I immediately tipped out my other bag straight into my new bag and then headed out to the shops !!! Lots of admiring glances I noticed. Thanks again lovely xxxx" - Sarah

OK, now dont all rush at once to place your order ;) please form an orderly queue. x

Dill's Dad's cards

I'm back again to show you some more cards from 'A dog called Dill'.

Couldn't wait to buy Father's day cards from Beverley and aren't they fabulous!!

As I am a lucky lady and have two Dad's, it meant I could choose two! Yippppeee!!

A lovely personalised card for my Step-Dad or 'Dada' as I like to call him. He likes to tinker with computers so I asked if Bev could make me one of her computer key cards.

And for my Dad this very stylish vintage camera card.

If you haven't visited Bev's Facebook please pop by :)

Custom baby/changing bag - apples and pears

Another one of my pencil sketches came to life when I made this custom baby/changing bag commissioned by a lady called Emma (what a bloody fantastic name ;) ha ha) for her friend Alison.

I love how it turned out, and I'm already working on a smaller version of the pattern to make it into a handbag for myself.

At the moment these bags are made to order but I'm hoping over the next month or so I will get a couple made and added to the website as ready made - ready to buy.

This Scandinavian print is so gorgeous, they still have it on Fabric Rehab if anyone is interested.

Check out all that room!!! Definitely my kind of bag :D

The bag has a nice thick across the body strap which is adjustable, really comfy for when you've packed your bag full of essentials.

This tiny framed mannequin make the bag look huge, I should have take a photo of me wearing it. This mannequin is a size 8-10......totally not the same size as me lol!

As always a cute little bow and rhinestone flower button.

Really pleased with this bag and can really see it in lots of different fabrics, cant wait to make another!

Box corner tutorial

Here's a little tutorial for you on how to make box corners. These can be used for all sorts of projects, I mainly use them for my bags and fabric storage boxes. They're really easy to do.....I've used a basic rectangle shape so you can see how simple and effective they are.

Take your project, which for this example I have sewn 2 flat pieces of fabric together and sewn a 1cm hem on 3 sides leave the top seam open...

Slot your hand in the open seam between the two layers....

Flatten both one of the side seams and the bottom seam, pinching them flat creating a point with the corner of your project....

Your corner will look like this....

Check to make sure that your bottom and side seam match and flow along the bottom and up the side as evenly as you can.....

Measure from the point down to a suitable place and make a mark with a pencil....
**tip: the further away your mark is from the point the deeper your box corner will be**

Using a ruler (or graders square) draw a horizontal line across your seam where you made your pencil mark, this will be your sewing line....

Run one line of stitching along your pencil mark......

I always like to go back and sew an extra line of stitching just over the seam, this will prevent your seam opening up once you have trimmed off the excess....

Now trim your corner approx 1cm away from the sewing line, this makes the corner sit better once turned through the correct way.....

Your box corner will now look like this :D

Now repeat this process again on the other corner....

Your box corners should now look like these....

Press open your seams....

Your box corners will now look like this...

Standing up all on its own thanks to the box corners....

Now you can turn your project in the right way....

And admire your handy work :D

Ta dahhhhh!!!

There you go, box corners that you can apply to any project you like! Go create!!
